Animating a digital face created from photos a TED demo

Amazing presentation by Paul Debevec demonstrating the technology behind digitally constructing a human face. Photographers take note on how the lighting on the face was used here.

Using a face-scanning sphere with 156 white LED's to light her face to ensure perfect lighting. They used polarizers to block the specular light reflected off of her face.

They turned the polarizers to get the specular light to show the texture of the face (skin pores and muscles...etc.) to create the mold/map of the face which is used to make animating the face as real as possible
